The Giver

The Giver - Lois Lowry I started this book when I was about seven years old, and to be honest, I hated it. I gave up halfway through because I was so desperately bored and I never picked it up again. So, at the beginning of the year, when I started the Dusty Bookshelf Challenge, I decided to put this book down—it has to be my dustiest book, hands down. I was wary of starting it up again after so long and giving it another chance, just because I didn’t have good memories of it. The beginning was incredibly boring, no doubt about that in my mind. Once Jonas actually met The Giver, however, it picked up and I was able to enjoy the story more, though not enough to blow my mind. I understand why people view this as a classic, but I didn’t enjoy it all that much.Read more?
