The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold “Holy stupendously awful book, Batman!” And that doesn’t even begin to describe my feelings for this book. It was…so very disappointing. I saw the movie right when it came out and remember loving it, loving the story. But the movie was eons different than this book, and so very much better (which doesn’t happen very often). This was the February book, for the lunch group of my school’s book club, and I’m so very sorry it was nominated; I would not wish this terror on five different people. The story of Susie Salmon seemed so interesting, and I was excited to read the book that was the inspiration for the movie that I really enjoyed. Until I read it, and spoke to other people around the internet about it, I had heard nothing but great things–that it was a classic, something everybody should read. Do not believe them if they tell you that. I gained nothing from reading this book, no joy, no pleasure, felt nothing for the characters. It was awful basically all around.Read more?http://thaliasbooks.tumblr.com/post/17048594801/the-lovely-bones-review
