Dark Companion

Dark Companion - Marta Acosta This was, unfortunately, another book I had incredibly high expectations for that ended up letting me down horribly. And I do mean horribly. It had maybe one redeeming quality, but the rest of the book was disturbing and poorly executed. The characters were cliché and obnoxious, with ridiculous names and nicknames in order to keep things interesting–and not to mention a bondage-esque relationship that just did not sit well with me on any level. Perhaps it was supposed to be disturbing and creepy, but I highly doubt I was supposed to be as uncomfortable as I was, to a point where I was squirming, wanting the scenes to be over. On top of that, it was boring and had a lot of typos (whether that’s final, or just part of this ARC, I don’t know), and I can’t even remember the last time I wanted to give up on a book so badly. But, alas, I powered through, and I’m just glad that it’s over with.My ARC was provided by my supervisor at the public library.Read more?http://thaliasbooks.tumblr.com/post/26733320181/dark-companion-review
