The Lost Years (Merlin, #1) - T.A. Barron As a self-proclaimed Arthurian geek, I was entirely all-too excited to read another young adult book centering around Merlin. However, I may have overshot my expectations, because this book was not at all what I expected it to be. ‘Merlin’ was twelve years old, and while I appreciated that Barron had historical accuracy, I felt like this story was entirely separate from the Merlin stories that we know and love. To a point where I can’t even understand why they bear the same name. In a nutshell, I was left confused, upset and sorely disappointed. The writing was bland, the plot was predictable and felt more like a kids’ book than a young adult, the dialogue was just bad, and…it didn’t meet the expectations I had; not even the lowest ones.Read more?http://thaliasbooks.tumblr.com/post/12578434286/the-lost-years-review
