I thought I had seen a friend of mine reading this on GoodReads, so when my supervisor had an ARC of it, I jumped at the chance to read it. (Although, once I logged on, I realized I had been thinking of a different book entirely, but I suppose this was a pleasant mistake.) The back cover didn’t tell much about the story, but I knew it was my to-read shelf, so I took it home happily and began it almost immediately. The first thing that struck me was the beautiful writing. Not quite prose, not quite poetry, but something hanging in between. Immediately, I was captivated and enchanted with the world being constructed and because of that, I found Judith’s voice mesmerizing and haunting. It was absolutely incredible–I could feel my heart seize with pity and sympathy, even early on, simply because the style was just so perfectly remarkable and unlike anything I had ever read. I quickly fell in love with Judith’s story and the people she interacted with. The “letter” style to Lucas was absolutely wonderful and I absolutely loved every moment of her story. I talked about it with my mom and managed to recommend it during a job interview I had today (luckily, I was asked about amazing books I’ve read lately; who’d have thunk?)–I’ve been talking about this book nonstop with those around me, and I keep shouting, “Wait until September! Make sure you buy it in September!” I know that once I give this ARC back, I’ll be picking up a copy immediately in the fall so I can have a beautiful copy of my own sitting on the shelf. An ARC of this was provided by my supervisor at the public library.Read more?http://thaliasbooks.tumblr.com/post/55570736795/all-the-truth-thats-in-me-review
