Necromancer (Review)

Necromancer (Necromancer, #0.5) - Lish McBride

This is a short story prequel, so I won’t be writing a full review.

There aren’t words to describe how happy I get when I read a prequel, and it’s awesome. Prequels are just so hard to nail down and do really well, and it’s just an incredible feeling when you read one, and you just say…“Yes!” I really enjoyed the Necromancer prequel (also known as Death and Waffles, which is kind of adorable) and I’m super pumped to read Hold Me Closer, Necromancer now that I’ve gotten a taste of McBride’s writing. I had kind of a hard time visualizing Ashley, Matt’s friend who is dead–I couldn’t tell if she was supposed to still be ten (which just felt weird in my mental image) or the same age as Matt–seventeen (which also felt wrong because I think Ashley said she’d chosen to stay the same). That was the only part of the story that I didn’t love, though, so as far as prequels or short, extra stories go, that’s pretty dang good! Fortunately, I already own a (signed!) copy of Hold Me Closer, Necromancer, so I’ll definitely be bumping it up on my mental priority list! I highly recommend reading this to both fans of the series and those interested in reading it!
