Okay, it definitely got much better. I'm not sold on the parallel narration, though--honestly, the plots about Syrenka and her being human and everything there was way more interesting than this stuff with Hester. And it took a dang long time for anything remotely interesting to actually happen. But I'm still intrigued, and I think I'll probably finish this one today. I've grown more used to Fama's writing and I enjoy it more now than I did in the beginning--it's certainly creepy at times. I guess we'll see where the end of the story takes us!
